IBM Quantum Safe w/ Field.io, 2023

IBM Quantum Safe is a suite of three tools that help organisations find and fix cryptographic vulnerabilities before quantum computing makes them exploitable. The audience is executive leadership and security professionals, not engineers. The design challenge was to make invisible processes (scanning code, prioritising risk, transforming encryption) feel intuitive through a single, coherent visual system. The visual language had to stay positive, bright, and built around circles and light. Within those constraints, my role focused on developing the visual metaphors for each product and carrying them through to final animation and rendering. The circle always represents the organisation. The interior elements represent the cryptographic landscape. Colour differentiates both the products and the status of vulnerabilities. Made with Houdini and Redshift.
The overarching Quantum Safe identity combines all three product colours into a single form. Each individual product uses its own colour to represent a different stage of the quantum-safe journey.
Quantum Safe Explorer Explorer scans an organisation's applications to locate cryptographic assets and identify vulnerabilities. Visually, a scanning motion moves through the circle from bottom to top. Horizontal lines appear as it finds security-related code. Red lines mark assets that are not quantum safe.
Quantum Safe Advisor
Advisor takes the scattered findings from Explorer and organises them into a prioritised view of the organisation's risk posture. The animation begins with an unorganised interior, moves through a series of sorting and prioritising steps, and arrives at a structured inventory.Quantum Safe Remediator
Remediator is the final step: making the organisation quantum safe. The animation shows protective shells growing outward from inside the organisation, forming a layered barrier. The visual shifts from vulnerability to fortification.Look development: finding visual metaphors for each product through form, composition and light.
